Mainland PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION - MEDICINE 

  

Hong Kong young people who completed their studies in Medical Science either in the Mainland or overseas and obtained the practising doctors' qualification# in Hong Kong can partake in the National Qualification Examination for Doctors in the clinical, Chinese medicine, and stomatology categories.  Those who pass the examinations will receive the physician qualification certificate. They can then register with the county-level administration department of the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China to practise in the Mainland.

#When studying in the Mainland, one must pay attention to the different definitions of obtaining a degree and a graduation certificate, which only means that the student receives the graduation certificate of undergraduate studies. Only students who achieve outstanding academic performance that reach the standard set by the colleges will obtain a bachelor's degree.

EXAMINATION ELIGIBILITY  

Candidates who obtained the professional undergraduate qualifications (bachelor's degree awarded in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) recognised by the Ministry of Education should complete a one-year practice under the guidance of a practising physician in the Mainland medical institutes. The specified professional qualifications (bachelor's degree) include: 
  • Clinical: completed the five-year or above studies in professional undergraduate (bachelor's degree) programmes in Clinical Medicine, Anesthesiology, Psychiatry, Medical Imaging, Radiation Medicine, Medical Test (limited to admission before 31 December 2012), Maternal and Child Health Medicine (limited to admission before 31 December 2014) 

  • Stomatology: completed the five-year professional undergraduate (bachelor's degree) programmes in stomatology 

  • Chinese Medicine: completed the five-year or above professional undergraduate (bachelor's degree) programmes in Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture and Moxibustion and Tuina of Chinese Medicine, Clinical Discipline of Chinese and Western Integrative Medicine, Tibetan Medicine, Mongolian Medicine, Dai Medicine, Zhuang Medicine, Kazakh Medicine 

SCOPE OF EXAMINATIONS

The examinations comprise two parts - the practical skills examination and medical comprehensive written examination.
